We provide a drum map to help you find the position of each virtual drum. With a little practice using the manual, you’ll be ready to start learning and having fun – no previous drumming experience required.
How do I use the AeroBand PocketDrum?
To play accurately, start by watching our instructional video. This is essential to learn the correct techniques and master the PocketDrum. Here's a step-by-step overview to help you get started:
- Power on and connect: Turn on your drumsticks, pedals, and adapter. The drumsticks and pedals will automatically connect to the adapter.
- Use the drum chart: Hang the included drum chart on the wall in front of you. This chart shows the exact positions of each virtual drum and cymbal.
- Correct posture and grip: Sit comfortably facing the drum chart. Hold the drumsticks lightly but firmly, keeping your wrists relaxed.
- Practice hitting the correct zones: Use the drum chart as a guide to hit each drum area with precise stick angles and controlled movements (approximately 30°–45°).
- Learn drumming techniques: Follow the instructional videos to master wrist movements, stick control, and timing to improve your precision and feel.
- Calibrate regularly: Recalibrate your PocketDrum as needed to maintain accurate position detection, especially after long sessions or when changing modes.

How can I accurately hit the drums with PocketDrum?
For a detailed guide, please watch the instruction video. Then, use the user manual and the drum map included with your PocketDrum to practice:
- Hang the drum map flat on the wall – Ensure the "+" sign on the map is at eye level when you are seated; this indicates the position of each drum.
- Take a seat – Sit in front of the map and position your drumsticks so that the center is roughly above the snare drum.
- Follow the instructions on the map – Practice hitting each drum in the correct spot as indicated on the map.
- Keep your wrists relaxed – Use controlled stick movements. Movements that are too wild or too hard can affect accuracy.

Practice regularly with the map – Over time, you will develop muscle memory and will no longer need the map to hit the drums correctly.

It is also advisable to calibrate or recalibrate your PocketDrum occasionally, especially after long playing sessions or when switching modes. This ensures your strikes remain accurate and the device operates smoothly.

Please note: PocketDrum is designed to function properly. It may take some getting used to and require some practice, but the product works as intended.

About the chart: The chart is merely a visual representation of the drum setup. After calibration, you no longer need to use the chart to play or trigger the correct sounds. Many users find playing without the chart feels more natural.
Recalibration Instructions - Stick Position: Hold both sticks in front of you at an angle of approximately 45°, pointing slightly inward.
- Playing the top part of the drum: To trigger the top drum, make a gentle upward motion with both sticks (as if playing the top of a drum kit).
- Playing the bottom part of the drum: To play the bottom drum, move the drumsticks horizontally, flat, and straight forward (as if playing the bottom of a drum kit).
- Direction of movement: Your movements do not have to look exactly like the images in the manual. Natural, fluid movements work best.
- Checking calibration: Use the Voice and Volume (+/–) buttons to check if each drumstick activates the correct drum. If the calibration is correct, the corresponding colors/lights on the drumsticks will light up.

Getting used to playing: Especially at first, it may take some getting used to the feel. With practice, accuracy and control usually improve quickly.
Important notes
If the sticks touch each other, calibration may be lost and needs to be redone.

Is there any delay/latency with the AeroBand PocketDrum?
Yes, there is a minimal delay of about 6 ms. For the best experience, keep the receiver and speaker as close to you as possible (this makes it more stable and almost unnoticeable). Overall, it offers a very positive and responsive experience.
